Lead and zink in permafrost forest-steppe soils

چکیده

In this work lead and zinc in the soils of permafrost forest-steppe have been studied. It was revealed that binding heavy metals following descending series: Zn > Pb, which corresponds to values their clarks. Studies shown occurs mainly with fulvic acids, -with humic is associated chemical properties. The content Pb rock turned out be lower than soil, possibly due biological accumulation. No signs environmental pollution were found study area. level plants soil not higher established norms. These data can used assess ecological state Each plant has its own metal accumulation threshold determined by characteristics. There are easily absorbed plants. As a result, unevenly distributed roots overground mass, create decreasing chain absorption: comes first, then lead. possible substances play role barrier for lead, so concentration vegetation low.

Zn isotope fractionation in a pristine larch forest on permafrost-dominated soils in Central Siberia

Stable Zn isotopes fractionation was studied in main biogeochemical compartments of a pristine larch forest of Central Siberia developed over continuous permafrost basalt rocks. Two north- and south-oriented watershed slopes having distinctly different vegetation biomass and active layer depth were used as natural proxy for predicting possible future climate changes occurring in this region. In...

Soil amino acid turnover dominates the nitrogen flux in permafrost-dominated taiga forest soils

Black spruce (Picea mariana) forests represent the dominant vegetation type throughout the North American and Siberian taiga and are generally considered ro be pristine, N-limiting environments. The aim of this sludy was to investigate the fundamental underlying mechanisms which control N availabil~ty in these soils with particuiar reference to the dynamics of dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) O...

Thaw depth determines reaction and transport of inorganic nitrogen in valley bottom permafrost soils: Nitrogen cycling in permafrost soils.

Nitrate (NO3 (-) ) export coupled with high inorganic nitrogen (N) concentrations in Alaskan streams suggests that N cycles of permafrost-influenced ecosystems are more open than expected for N-limited ecosystems. We tested the hypothesis that soil thaw depth governs inorganic N retention and removal in soils due to vertical patterns in the dominant N transformation pathways. Using an in situ, ...

Modelling of cryogenic processes in permafrost and seasonally frozen soils

This paper investigates the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behaviour of soils subjected to seasonal temperature variations in both permafrost and seasonally frozen conditions. Numerical modelling of soil freezing and ice segregation processes is presented, and compared against small-scale physical modelling experiments. The coupled THM model presented, which is solved by way of a transient finit...

Lead forms in urban turfgrass and forest soils as related to organic matter content and pH.

Soil pH may influence speciation and extractability of Pb, depending on type of vegetation in urban soil environments. We investigated the relationship between soil pH and Pb extractability at forest and turf grass sites in Baltimore, Maryland. Our two hypotheses were: (1) due to lower pH values in forest soils, more Pb will be in exchangeable forms in forested than in turfgrass soils and (2) d...
